Getabe is the Gate Way to Kandy when you travel from Colombo along  Kadugannawa and Peradeniya. By the side of Getambe and  on the other side of the River is Gannoruwa where the famous Battle of Gannorura took place during the Portugues period.

This is a spot where most tourists use to place a coin or two and invoke the Blessings of the Triple Gem  ( The Buddha, Dhamma ( Doctrine) and the Sangha ( the order of monks ) are referred to  as the three jewels/gems in Buddhist literature) for the safety of the passengers and the vehicle  during their journey.
