Image This is  a  large Buddhist Temple situated in a village called Handessa and is about  3 to 4 km from  Gadaladeniya . Both these Temples – Gadaladeniya and Lankathilaka -  have been constructed  at the same  period.  It was constructed by  one Senadhilankara, the Prime Minister of King Parakramabahu vi. According to a stone inscription found in the temple premises,  the  building  and the  images  are the work of one  ‘Sthapathirayar’, a  south Indian architect. According to the archaeologists,  architecture of  Lankathilaka   clearly show the influence  of the architecture of the Polonnaruwa   period, as well as the   architecture  of  Tamils, Hindus and Chinese .
