This statue had been vandalized by those seeking hidden treasures and was found around 1886. It is 7 ft 3 inches in height and has been renovated later. It depicts the meditating Buddha in ‘Samadhi’ posture. Recently a roof had been hoisted over it to save it from the elements.
This statue is found near a ‘ Bodhi Ghara’, a building constructed over a Bodhi . This is one of the statues of the Buddha with the back leaning to the Bo Tree. This is the only statue of out of them which remain today. Of course the ruins of the other three statues could be seen .
